There is a popular saying, “Prevention is better than cure.” It can’t be stressed enough how much prevention means in the real world of total security solutions. It’s certainly way more than a phrase.
Fire services and its importance:
Fire accidents often happen and unfortunately, nobody can predict a fire. Hence, prevention is the biggest weapon one can have. In corporate events, there are a lot of mishaps that can take place and the outbreak of a fire is no doubt a big thing. Here are a few basic safety measures that we think will go a long way in preventing accidents at corporate events:
- Planning is the foundation of prevention Nothing beats a solid plan of action. A secure plan that charts all the possibilities and exit plans must be done. Emergency plans are a part and parcel of the prevention plan.
- Installation of fire alarms Fire alarms and smoke detectors are an essential addition to any enclosed space – be it a commercial or a residential building. The lives of many people are at stake and any loophole may cause irreparable damage. The presence of a fire alarm alerts the people of the building of an incurring fire. Oftentimes, this time is enough to save lives.
- Dispose the garbage or keep an eye on the bins The cause of a fire accident that is often overlooked is inflammable garbage. Especially at corporate events, a lot of inflammable ingredients are needed for various activities that end up adding to the list of materials that are hazardous in terms of the outbreak of a fire.
- Put up fire safety instructions What are the important safety instructions? Present them on the board so that everyone can read them. As is said awareness is the best form of prevention.
- Be aware of the location of the fire extinguishers Fire extinguisher is the primary weapon in dealing with fires. So, educating the people about its location is very important.
- Hire trained people in firefighting There are many people present at a corporate event. So, it is imperative that the event management company employ competent workers who are able to disperse and manage large numbers of people in case of an emergency. Employees who are well-versed in fire safety, drills and evacuation are absolutely necessary to be included in the team.
- Keep smoke suppression systems Automatic sprinklers require less maintenance and come in handy at curbing big fire incidents.
- Usage of flame retardants The interiors of the venue should be designed with premium fabrics that are not silk.
- Drills before the start of the event are recommended to make the venue as much fire-proof as possible. It is highly suggested to seek advice from local fire stations for safety inspections along with the full disclosure of the expected attendance.
Though fire safety is an elemental part of design, unfortunately, it is not followed and so these precautions mandatorily need to be taken. Different states in India have different regulations by the governments in this regard as well.
